Seniors bid
adieu to President Marge
By Bertha Nolan
Tuesday,
July 19 at 1:30 p.m., President Marge welcomed all and called
our meeting to order. Following the Prayer and Pledge, roll call
revealed 44 members present. Sandra Ayer from Brookfield Meadows
Park was our guest today. Because we had no meeting the first
Tuesday in July, Attendance Secretary Bea announced the birthdays
and anniversaries for the month of July. Our songs for today were
“Good Old Summertime” and “Let the Rest of the
World Go By.” The Secretary, Treasurer, Sunshine and Entertainment
reports were made. Ticket Lady Gerry had our B.B.Q. tickets for
sale. That event will be on Sunday, Aug. 28 at the Rod and Gun
Club. 20-club chair Al made a full report on the last 20 weeks.
A new one is starting today. Travel Lady Betty made her report,
and a mystery ride will be on Saturday, Sept. 22, in private cars.
The money raffle was held, and the Victory certificate was won
by President Marge. She gave it to the Club for supplies. Secretary
Marguerite will take care of this.
Today was our annual Sadie Hawkins/Pizza Party. The men of the
club take care of this, serving us ladies also. We enjoyed cheese,
hamburger, pepperoni and veggie pizzas from P & S in West
Brookfield, and coffee and pastries for dessert. It was great!
Thanks, guys.
Bingo followed to complete the day.
On Tuesday, August 2, before our meeting, EMTs Donna and Peter
were present to take blood pressures. Thanks so much.
Today was our Annual Penny Sale. Al and Elizabeth Casucci chaired
this event. Several members helped including Lee Barry, Millie
Miner, and Al Servant. Items were brought in by members, and set
up went smoothly.
At 1:30, President Marge welcomed all and our meeting began. Prayer
and Pledge were followed by songs “How Great Thou Art”
and “Shade of the Old Apple Tree.” Roll call revealed
46 members present and a new member, Sandra Ayer. Welcome, Sandra.
A guest, Terry Elliot, was with us, and we hope she will join
the club.
Secretary, Treasurer, and Sunshine reports were run. Betty made
her Travel report, and Gerry, once again, had the B.B.Q. tickets
for sale. Entertainment Lady Lee announced the Penny Sale would
take place following refreshments.
The Money Raffle and 20-club drawings were held. A 50/50 was won
by Eileen Lemay.
President Marge announced her mobile home had been sold, and she
will be moving to Washington State to live with her daughter.
This was her last meeting with us. I knew her home was for sale,
but the news of her leaving was a jolt, just the same. We have
been friends and worked closely for the good of our club. She
is such a wonderful person, and I shall miss her. Our club 1st
Vice President, Roland O’Coin, will lead us until the end
of the year. We hope he can continue as President for the New
Year. We have a great membership. We all work well together; that’s
what it’s all about!
Following refreshments, the Penny Sale went into full swing. Everyone
was happy with their winnings, and several door prizes were given.
It was a fun day. Thanks to Al and Elizabeth and their committee.
‘Till
next time.
