Clean
up day at the Lewis Field Recreation Area was April 22. As usual,
the same group of people got together to prep the fields spreading
stone dust, hanging signs, applying the fence guard, edging the
fields, and the list goes on. We also were able to clean up the
basketball area, snack shack and playground and finish painting
the pavilion. Unfortunately we ran out of time before the rain
and hail hit (never mind the fact the guys were "spent")
to get the new swing set up. We will need manpower to get this
up. We will look at another date very soon. I can't thank enough
all of you who joined us on the dreary day to make the recreation
area look so nice. A special thanks to our out-of-town helpers
Dave and Deb McDonald for a great paint job. Also to Cole Sheffler
for cutting our work practically in half with the use of his tractor.
We would sincerely like to thank the Highway Department for taking
away the huge amount of trash we had after cleanup day.
Baseball/Softball
One month into the season, and all is going well. We
had one broken nose when a young boy misjudged the ball during
warm-up before the game, but otherwise all has been great. Hopefully
we will be able to finish the season on schedule with all the
games we have to make up from our rainy days.
Welcome new members
We would like to welcome a few new upcoming members to
the Recreation Committee. As a couple of our terms are coming
to an end and rumor has it, they will not be staying on, we have
three people anxious to join us. Mike Lucas, Jeff Edwards and
Rob Rice are in line to come aboard. Thank you; fresh faces and
new ideas are always welcome.
