RECREATION CORNER
Police, firefighters take to the ball court
By Denise Senosk

It has come to my attention that Tuesday night on the basketball court at the Lewis Field, members of our local Fire and Police departments have put together a team and have been playing many of the high school kids. I understand they are having a great time. Thanks, guys, for helping to keep the kids busy and out of trouble. The few kids I've spoken to are having a great time. Thanks.

Baseball/Softball
With the season coming to a close, we would like to thank all the coaches and assistant coaches, umpires, snack shack helpers, grounds crew, Police Department, Highway Department and parents for helping to make this a fun learning experience and an uneventful season. Thank you all !!

Fall Soccer
Anyone still needing to sign up, you must contact Craig Parker as soon as possible to ensure placement of your child on a team.

Flag Football
Mike Lucas and Keith Law are in the process of setting up teams for boys in second through sixth grade. For more information, please contact Keith Law at 508-867-3240 or Mike Lucas at 508-867-5966.

Tantasqua Sports Camps are running for the summer. Mike Lucas has once again done a wonderful job organizing this. The camps run through the summer months. This is a great learning experience for your children and can only improve their skills as well as help them meet new friends. Please contact Mike Lucas for more information.

South Pond
As you know, we aren't able to fund a lifeguard at this time. We would ask anyone using the beach area either for swimming or fishing to please be courteous of others. I have recently taken a ride to check things out and in the 36 years I’ve lived in this town I've never seen it look so nasty. We are currently working with the Police Department and the Highway Department to clean up the beach area. We can only ask that you help us to keep it clean once done. Please be aware of your basic water safety rules, use the buddy system, and remember alcohol and water recreation don't mix well. With all of us working together we can only help to improve the appearance of the beach area as well as avoid any injuries. If anyone has any information about the dock in the middle of the beach area, please contact Denise Senosk at 508-867-6406.

Pavilion
If you have had a chance to stop by the field, you will see what a wonderful job our Recreation Committee volunteers and a few dedicated assistants have done putting this together. It has already come into good use during a thunderstorm in the middle of one of our busy nights at the ball field. Instead of calling off the games, we were able to just take cover under the pavilion and let the storm pass. (This avoided a make-up night Yeah!)

Can't thank enough all of the individuals who are pulling this all together. GREAT JOB !!

Quick note of thanks to Bill Walker for his recent donation of gloves to our snack shack. Thank you.

Welcome Back Brenda McElroy We missed you!
