RECREATION CORNER
Basketball Season a Success, Thanks to Many
By
Denise Senosk
All is going well as the basketball season comes to a close. I
would like to thank a few new members to our referee pool this
year, Miss Polly Nichols, Steve Bossiere and Marcia. To the "old
reliables" Mike Phillips, Pete Spence, Mike Benoit, Mike
Lucas and Rick Brigham—THANK YOU. As usual, with only a
couple of complaints, our coaching staff was exceptional again
this year. Our new members of the coaching staff were Dave Proulx,
Mike Morgan, Bruce Wadden and Ryan Caron. Thank you also to the
Caswell boys, the Snyder boys, John and Dianna Senosk, the Lucas
Boys, Justin Bigos, Tanya Benoit and any other clock officials,
bookkeepers and floor sweepers, and to the custodial staff at
Brookfield Elementary School. Without the help of all of you the
continued success of the basketball program wouldn't be possible.
Again, thank you from all of us on the Recreation Committee.
We would also like to thank John Farrarone for setting us up with
our basketball pictures this year.
Recreation Night at the Ice Cats is scheduled for Sunday,
April 17; game time is 4:05 p.m. This is the Ice Cats’ last
home game and is also Fan Appreciation Night. So let’s support
the Cats and fill some seats. Registration dates will be set up
soon, and transportation will be provided. Please watch the access
channel and your children’s back pack for more information.
Or you may contact Cheryl Robinson at 508-867-2287.
Baseball and Softball indoor practices will be starting
soon. If you haven't already heard from your child’s coach,
it should be happening soon. Please be patient. There is a lot
of planning that goes into these programs and only a handful of
people willing to help. Anyone willing to help out that hasn't
already contacted Dave Proulx, please do so ASAP at 508-867-5149.
Men’s Basketball and Adult Volleyball
Due to no one showing up for volleyball night, we will
be giving the Friday night schedule back to men’s basketball.
If at some point there is a bunch of people that want to play
volleyball, please contact me at 867-6406, and we will set you
up with a night. Please remember, men’s basketball is for
18 years and older. Please remember to sweep the gym at the end
of the night. Thank you.
Lewis Field
We were notified at out last Recreation Committee Meeting
by Chief Ackerman that the Brookfield Police Association will
be adding pieces to the playground this spring. Thank you in advance.
With warmer weather coming soon, we will be prepping the ball
fields for our kids. Please keep all dogs off the fields. If you
need to go to the fields, be careful of the mud in the driveway.
It gets very messy and you can easily get stuck. "Believe
me, I buried my tires making the loop on my routine check last
year." Please DO NOT drive on the grass. Our big project
for this year is to get the pavilion up and hopefully some lighting
for the ball fields. We will keep you posted to the best of our
ability.
Call for volunteers
The Recreation Committee is looking for new faces and ideas. We
meet the first and third Monday of each month at 7:30 p.m. at
the Town Hall. Please feel free to join us.
