WB Congregational Church
servers up turkey supper

The First Congregational Church, 36 N. Main St., West Brookfield, will host a turkey supper on Saturday, April 1 at 6 p.m. Turkey, stuffing, vegetables, beverages and a variety of desserts will be offered. Tickets are $8 for adults and $4 for children 12 and under. Reservations are required. Please call the church at 508-867-7078 to purchase tickets.

Unitarian Church to present
concert featuring Rob Adams

The Brookfield Unitarian Universalist Church’s BUUC Concert Series presents “She’s Busy—Unplugged” on Sunday, April 2 at 3 p.m. The concert will be held at the church, 9 Upper River St. on the Brookfield Common. The event is open to the public. Tickets are $8 and available at the door.

Rob Adams, a member of the BUUC, is reuniting with his former band members Selena Wilson and Lisa Wilson for this special performance. The trio formed in 1990 and Adams was a founding member.

For more than a decade, She's Busy has brought high energy, marvelous harmonies, and tight arrangements of their original music to audiences throughout the Northeast. She's Busy released two CDs, “Strange Bedfellows” and “Thinkin’ Out Loud,” from which the trio will perform several cuts including “What Do You Believe In,” “Release,” “Woodcarver,” and “Road Song.”

Reviewers have described the group as "harmonic funk in original folk and blues" and "tight, professional, creative, and brimming with talent." The Boston Globe said She’s Busy’s music is "full of topical fire and spellbinding harmonies."

Church seeks vendors
for annual flea market

The 41st Flea Market on the Common, sponsored by the First Congregational Church of West Brookfield, is coming on Saturday, June 17. Crafters, antique dealers and flea folks are all welcome!
Reservations are now being accepted for 20 x 20 foot sites at $25 each. Call Terry Hall at 508-867-4462 for a reservation form.

 



Festival highlights services,
goods to nourish inner spirit

The Worship Committee of the Brookfield Unitarian Universalist Church, 9 Upper River St. on the Brookfield Common, is sponsoring a "Celebrate the Spirit Within" festival 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Saturday, April 8. The event is open to the public.

"This event is a great way for people to celebrate spring by nurturing their inner selves," said event coordinator Heidi Knowlton. "We are pleased to have a number of vendors providing products and services that will refresh the mind, body, and soul."

Mary Hill Stone of Hygieia Herbs will be offering a "Relaxation Oasis" featuring herbal facials, salt-glow footbaths, and skin care. Stone, a resident of West Brookfield, has been working with herbs developing medicinal and natural skin care products for over 25 years. She is a graduate of Emerson College of Herbology and holds certificates from the Sage Mountain Herbal School in Vermont.

The Green Sanctuary Committee of the BUUC will be selling fair trade coffee and chocolate. Other vendors include Jenn Plasse of Massage for Health who will offer seated chair massage; Keith Chouinard and Kevin Moore will demonstrate Aura Imaging Technology; and Chris ShiningBrook will conduct individual Sacred Path Readings, which focus on maintaining your personal spiritual growth as communicated from spirit guides, angels, or loved ones who have passed over. ShiningBrook will also host a question and answer session on past lives regression at 1:30 p.m.

The festival will include a spiritual and religious book sale, tarot card readings, and "Tin Lizzie" crafts by renowned local artist Lizzie Brown. In keeping with the event’s theme, lunch and snack items available include: Garden of Eden Chili, Chicken Soup for the Soul, Shepherd’s Pie, Angel Food Cake, and Devil’s Food Cake.
