Parade,
muster mark 150 years of service
By
Chief Peter Martell
Brookfield Fire Department
Your
Fire Department was established in 1855, making this year our
150th year of service to you. A lot has changed in the fire service
in the past 150 years. We no longer depend on steam to power the
pumps or horses to get to fire scenes. Some things haven’t
changed though, like the dedication of the firefighters and our
commitment to the community. So we welcome you to come celebrate
this occasion with us.
We
invite you to view a fire apparatus parade featuring fire trucks
from Brookfield and the surrounding communities on Sunday, June
26 at noon. The parade will kick off on Route 9 at the West Brookfield
line and move east on Route 9 turning right onto Central Street
at the Elementary School and continuing past the Town Hall to
the Common. Muster events will start at 1 p.m. on Central Street
in front of the Town Hall. Watch firefighters from neighboring
towns compete in various hose races. We hope to see you there.
Concessions will be available.
We will also be holding our annual Father’s Day Chicken
BBQ at the Fire Station at noon on June 19. See a firefighter
for tickets in advance. Thank
you for your support.
