TO
THE EDITOR:
Kermit Eaton offers a sincere apology to all those
who welcomed a chance to use his property for hiking, skiing
and similar activities. He had mistakenly thought that a
"right of way" to his property was clear but was
informed by a property owner that, in fact, it was not.
Kermit is currently pursuing other options, but for the
immediate future, the prior access point on Lower River
Street is no longer usable. He requests that you respectfully
pay heed to the no trespassing signs that are posted there.
He hopes to secure other means of access, and will keep
you informed of his progress.

Minutes
of the Sturbridge-Tantasqua Study Committee meetings may
now be read online. A web page has been established at http://www.town.sturbridge.ma.us/Public_Documents/SturbridgeMA_TSC
or by going to the Town Administrator's page on the Town
of Sturbridge website (http://www.town.sturbridge.ma.us)
and clicking on the Tantasqua Study Committee link.
The Committee is also putting together an informational
booklet that will be available for the annual town elections
and will be scheduling a public informational meeting the
third week of April (a week before the Annual Town Meeting)
to which residents from all five towns will be invited.
Thanks for the honor
TO
THE EDITOR:
I
have to say that when I opened the letter last night from
the Quaboag Historical Society, I felt very honored that
I would be considered and given such an honor as the Lucy
Stone Award.
Thank you all for nominating me. You know that none of the
projects we have
worked on could have happened without your support. It is
an award for all of you, too; I couldn't do what we've done
without you.
Thanks for the honor.

Support
ambassador
trip to Australia
TO
THE EDITOR:
My
name is Devon O'Donnell, and I am a ninth-grade student
at Tantasqua Regional High School in Sturbridge. I was recently
interviewed and accepted to participate as a member of the
People to People Student Ambassador Program to Australia
this summer. The objective of this program is to promote
international understanding while building leadership skills
among America's youth. The 18-day experience includes meetings
with government officials, interaction with other students
my age, educational activities, and home stays with host
families.
I am currently seeking financial sponsors to help me with
tuition, and I hope I can count on your support. In case
you haven't heard of People to People, please allow me to
share some history with you. President Dwight D. Eisenhower
founded the organization in 1956. He believed that if people
from different cultures could come together in peace and
friendship, so eventually would countries. Since its founding,
People to People has launched many international programs,
including Sister Cities, Project HOPE and Pen Pals.
People to People student ambassadors are carefully interviewed
and evaluated before their acceptance, and I am honored
to have been selected. Personally, I am looking forward
to broadening my perspective of the world and gaining a
better understanding of Australian history. As an ambassador,
I can earn high school and college credit because of the
many educational elements in my program.
The program tuition is $5,169, which includes all transportation,
accommodations, meals and educational activities. I am asking
many businesses to each donate as much money as they can
to this program. And on a personal note, I live alone with
my mother, Roberta, and it is very hard for her to afford
this by herself. Is it possible for you to assist me by
making a contribution? Any amount of contribution would
be appreciated.
My program tuition is due May 3, 2005. If you want to make
a contribution, please send a check or money order to:
P.O. Box 522
Brookfield MA 01506
Please feel free to contact me at (508) 867-6014 if you
need more information. Your generous contribution would
enable me to share in this wonderful opportunity. Thank
you in advance for your consideration and support.
Devon O'Donnell,
Student Ambassador
