Is your home environmentally healthy?

 

Sign up for a free six-session workshop to discuss topics such as household waste reduction, pollution, energy conservation, environmental action and other Eco-friendly issues. This workshop series is sponsored by the Green Sanctuary Committee of the Brookfield Unitarian Universalist Church.

The six sessions will cover:

Garbage: Composting and recycling
Water: Pollution, recycling, conservation and run off
Electricity: Conservation, EnergyStar products, audits and plantings
Packaging awareness: Less in/less out, recycled products, natural and organic products
Air pollution: Motors, what is burned for trash, what escapes and where the wind blows
Social action: Resources available, getting to know your legislators, volunteering and spreading the word. Start a new Eco-team.

Sessions will be held at the church, 9 Upper River St., at 10 a.m. on Saturdays Feb. 26, March 26, April 23, May 21 (a week early), June 25 and July 23. Each session will last approximately one hour with workbooks and worksheet handouts to monitor your individual progress in conservation.

"The purpose of the workshop is to develop sustainable lifestyle practices in the action areas of waste, water, energy, transportation, and consumption," said Barbara Hale, Green Sanctuary Committee chair. "The sixth action area, empowerment, enables the team to help others take action for the planet.

The Green Sanctuary Committee is a group dedicated to helping the Brookfield Unitarian Universalist Church congregation live out its commitment to the Earth by creating sustainable lifestyle alternatives for its members.
