GOING
PLACES at the Public Library this summer is an exploration
of eclectic artists, Birds of Prey, reading new authors and Mountains
Beyond Mountains. Tuesday, July 5, 6 to 7 p.m. We will kick off
the summer reading program with Sidewalk Art.
Everyone is invited to help decorate the sidewalk along the Library
with chalk and pick up reading logs. Five titles in your reading
log by Thursday, Aug. 11 is the ticket for the Friends of the
Library-sponsored Ice Cream Social for all reading program participants.
Every Wednesday, July 6 to Aug. 10, we will have a supervised
Drop-in Craft program from 3 to 5 p.m. The only
exception is Wednesday, July 27 when the Wingmasters will be here
with Birds of Prey at 4 p.m.
On Thursday, July 7, from 6 to 8 p.m., families are invited to
participate in creating a summer reading banner to hang in the
Library. Also:
Thursday, July 14, 6-8 p.m.: Create Paul Klee art.
Thursday, July 21, 6-8 p.m.: Create George Braque art.
Thursday, Aug. 4, 6-8 p.m.: Create Georgia O’Keefe art.
Passes to Summer Attractions
Coupons and passes are available to participants. New
venues this year include the Davis’ Farmland and Davis Mega
Maze in Sterling, Tower Hill Botanical Garden in Boylston, The
Springfield Museums (featuring the Dr. Seuss National Memorial
Sculpture Garden), The Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art,
and locally Worcester Art Museum, Higgins Armory, EcoTarium, and
Old Sturbridge Village. Come in and review the many options available.

We would like to thank the Friends of the Library for their continued
generous support of the Summer Reading Program and Home Delivery.
We have copies of Mountains Beyond Mountains available
to borrow. Call to reserve a copy. You may purchase the book at
the high school in the Administrator’s Office throughout
the summer.
Home Delivery will continue throughout the summer months
on Fridays. If anyone is interested in this service please call
the library.
