LIBRARY NEWS
It's Easy to Navigate Library Resources Online

By Brenda Metterville

The Central Massachusetts Regional Library System has updated its web page, so those of us who have placed the link to InfoTrac in our favorites will notice the link no longer works. The new web address is http://www.cmrls.org/databases/index.html. InfoTrac is a database with thousands of full text articles and citations, easily searchable on a wide array of subjects. Password access to this gold mine of information is 20410 and the last four numbers of your telephone number or library card number. For more information, call the library.

A TUNN OF INFO
The Tufts University Nutrition Navigator (TUNN), on the web at http://navigator.tufts.edu/index.html, is designed to help with identifying reliable and accurate sources of nutrition information on the Web. Web sites are reviewed by Tufts nutritionists, who apply rating and evaluation criteria developed by the Tufts University Nutrition Navigator Advisory Board, a prestigious panel of leading U.S. and Canadian nutrition experts. Site reviews are updated quarterly to ensure that ratings take into account the changes taking place constantly in the world of nutrition. There are links to Weight Management, Special Dietary Needs, Kids, Health Professionals and more. Each link offers clear, concise rating guides with succinct commentary, and book reviews are included.

BANISTER BOOK GROUP
Newcomers are invited to attend our book discussion of Secret Life of Bees, by Sue Monk Kidd, on Tuesday, March 29 at 7:30 p.m. Southern America is further explored through the eyes of 14-year-old Lily Owen upon her arrival in Tiburon, S.C. This exquisite first fiction novel has been one the Library staff’s favorite book recommendations. Excerpts of this debut novel have appeared in Best American Short Stories.

NEW ON THE RACKS
New magazine subscriptions added to the collection include Cook’s Magazine, The Nation, Harper’s Bazaar, Family Handyman, Beads and Button Magazine and The Saturday Evening Post.

ONGOING BOOK SALE
The Friends of the Library have initiated a year-round, new hardcover book sale. Titles are displayed on the new bookcase in the foyer of the Library. The books will sell for $3 each or two for $5.

FOOD FOR FINES
A BIG thank you to our patrons for participating in the year-round Food instead of Fines program. We sent 612 pounds of non-perishable food to the Brookfield food pantry in 2004!

DEGREES OF SUPPORT
I appreciate all the encouraging positive comments regarding my education adventure. To the one dissenter who prefers I “move along,” I apologize for any offense, none was intended.

LOST AND FOUND
The library has several items left behind by patrons—a Yankees cap, a hand knit child’s hat and a blue spring jacket.
