THE FOLDING CORNER
Help wanted, and the pay is great!
By Philip Peirce

Phil Peirce

I’m becoming obsolete! It feels great! Paul Berry, Margaret and Dave Boland, Lucy Beeman, and Marguerite Desmond have proven that one time again. The October issue Folding Party performed flawlessly, and was done before I got out of play practice. Thank you, folks, for taking the pressure off. For the rest of you who keep talking about joining us, you’ve got another chance on Wednesday, Nov. 30 to do just that. Mark your calendar, save the day, and stop in anytime in the Banquet Hall of the Town Hall after 6:30 p.m. to lend a hand. Meet new people, renew acquaintances, and perform a little community service, all within a couple of hours, usually.

While I’m on the “help-wanted” kick, let me throw out a few more positions that might interest you. For instance, we have what we euphemistically call our Transportation position. This would primarily be the person who would pick up the finished product at the printer. Right now, we use Progressive Graphics in Ware, and the transporter picks up four to five boxes of paper product on Wednesday afternoon, usually the last Wednesday of the month. The product is delivered to the Town Hall before 6:30 p.m. and loaded on the tables in the Banquet Hall. It’s handy to be “strong like bull” but having a helper with a strong back and a weak mind will do also.

The Postal Coordinator delivers the finished (folded, assembled, identified by postal route) product to the Post Office, processing the provided paperwork and check with the postal employees.

The Advertising Manager processes invoices, collects advertising revenue, solicits advertising, and is an all-around “good fellow” or “fair lass.”

If you have a skill, and some time to throw our way, that you think could be of value to the Brookfield Citizen, feel free to contact me at: The Brookfield Citizen, P.O. Box 411, Brookfield, MA 01506.
