THE FOLDING CORNER
Citizen pressed to find new printer
By Philip Peirce

Phil Peirce

To Vern and Margaret Heipler, Lucy Beeman, Paul Berry, Marguerite Desmond, Pauline Merrick, and Barbara Clancy may I say, “You are all doing a fine job,” to quote young Mr. Grace. The September issue was neatly dispatched in jig time. I would also like to extend kudos to the co-editors of the Citizen for a fine job they are doing. Tim and Danielle Kane have picked up the reins to this job and are quite efficiently propelling it into the 21st century quite well. Thank you all for being a part of this community effort.

Thanks, also, to those of you who have continued to send donations. Your contributions are also an integral part of the community spirit that thrives in Brookfield. The Citizen is approaching another milestone, of sorts. We have been doing business with Progressive Graphics for the past 10 years, and their care and consideration for our product have also been of great value to the Citizen. However, Ray and Andy have decided to cease operations soon. There are possibilities that a successor owner may also do the job, but we are approaching some changes that may have a negative impact on our finances. I have looked into some competitive pricing locally, so that I can continue to operate, at the very least, for some time until final arrangements can be made. Also, I have gone to a workshop at the Worcester Public Library to learn how to use their system for finding grantors for continued financing.

Let’s hope that the Citizen remains a strong and vital news arm for the community. I will do everything in my power to keep it that way.
