THE FOLDING CORNER
Donations save Citizen from folding
By Philip Peirce

Phil Peirce

By George, I think we’ve done it! My “planned obsolescence” has arrived.

While I was out on the West Coast checking out ball parks and stuff, our loyal crew took care of the details at the Folding Party on July 27. I don’t even know who showed up; all I do know is that the job was done, and done quite neatly. Hmmmm. I’ll have to see where I can go next month. My thanks to you, the unknown crew, and to Ray and Andrea from Progressive Graphics for helping out by delivering the product to the Town Hall.

The next Folding Party will be Sept. 28. Be there or be square.

Our fund drive seems to be working pretty well. By way of comparison, 15 donors contributed a total of $600 from the beginning of the year to just before I put on the pressure in July. Between July 1 and August 9, we received $686 from another 15 generous folk. But, that’s only 30 people who have been thoughtful enough to help out since the beginning of the year. We distribute 1,700 newsletters, nearly 1,600 in town, and the rest to friends and family who live outside the Town of Brookfield. That’s a response rate of 1.87% from folks in town; I know that some of you have said that you have to remember to send us a check. What does Nike say? “Just do it.” Stop what you’re doing right now, go into the kitchen and get the checkbook, write out a generous check to the Brookfield Citizen, and put it in an envelope for someone to mail. You’ll feel much better when you’ve got that done. I know I will!
