THE FOLDING CORNER
Folks step forward to fold, fund and give feedback
By Philip Peirce

Phil Peirce

Folding for the July issue went off without a hitch on June 29 at the Town Hall. This time, we had the room to ourselves, and one other group that met briefly in the kitchen. Fourteen pages and one insert made for a pretty fast job. We were done by 8:30. My thanks go to Paul Berry, Marguerite Desmond, Lucy Beeman, Pauline Merrick, Vern and Margaret Heipler and Bill Frangiamore for another job well done. The door is always open to newcomers who want to lend a hand. This is a terrific way to get to know people in town and to actually do some community service. Stop in and give it a try on Aug. 31 starting at 6:30 p.m. in the Banquet Hall of the Town Hall.

Apparently, my impassioned plea did not go unheard. There has been a steady flow of envelopes to Box 411 this past week (July 5 to July 8) with checks for the Citizen. Since nearly all of our donors are shy and retiring, I won’t be mentioning any names, but I am truly grateful for your prompt response to my request. But, there is still a ways to go before we’re out of the woods, so, if you are procrastinating, kindly stop, and send in the donation.

Some of the donations came with messages, which are always as welcome as the money. “I would like to make this donation in memory of Gussie Willett, a longtime member of Brookfield. Thank you for a ‘nice’ newsy town paper.” “Keep up the good work.” “Enjoy the articles by Tim Kane. He has such a good sense of humor! I have to laugh.”

Thank you all for your kind words, and, of course, your money.
